  Murphy's scouts laws

This was posted on a Scout mailing list and thought it was radically accurate so I am sharing. The other is unknown, but if anyone does not the author or source to credit it to, I would be happy to do so. Murphy's scouts laws The child with the fewest clean clothes will invariably be the first to get wet The easier the rules of the game the fewer will want to play If it... [More]

  Kamp Kitchen – Portable Water

A lot of the campouts I did with the Scouts were to places that have no facilities, no water, tables, bathroom... nothing. This meant we had to bring everything in and take everything out. In this brief post just wanted to point out different kind of containers for transporting water from home to the campsite. My favorite types of water containers are like the navy blue one in the picture. It holds 5 gallons of water... [More]

  Scout Recruitment - Part 2

Visibility One of my first moments when I considered enrolling my son in scouting was while visiting his elementary school shortly after we had moved. While searching out classrooms I saw several groups of children pass by. It seemed that one child was inevitably in a scouting uniform. My mind quickly connected that scouting would be a great way for my son to meet new friend and the rest, as they say, is history.... [More]

  Scout Recruitment and Visability

It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Never has this been truer than when explaining scouting to a new boy or his parents. This year, our pack decided to work on improving our recruiting numbers in several ways. One of those came upon us purely by accident when a den leader began working on a scrapbook for the tigers. The project soon snowballed into a pack wide project with several parents... [More]

Most commonly they are used to do slow cooking and baking in camp, generally over charcoal. Dutch ovens come in all sorts of different sizes from small to large. The size you need, depends on what your making and for how many people. It is worth noting that you can also get frying pans, kettles,... [More]
