Boy Scouts With Baden Powell (1910-1920)

Baron Baden-Powell was lieutenant general in the British army, founder of the Scout Movement and the first Chief Scout of The Boy Scouts Association. A scout rally was organized at Crystal Palace in London in 1909, where Baden Powell first came across girl scouts. The Girl Guide movement was formally initiated by Powell’s sister, Agnes Baden Powell. In 1920, the first World Scout Jamboree was held in West Kensington where Baden Powell was declared the Chief Scout of the world.

Baden Powell’s book ‘Scouting for Boys’ achieved great success and was one of the bestsellers in the 20th century.
