Tour Options for Every Budget

By: Posted On: 2013-01-11

Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that you are getting excited for the 2013 Philmont season! As we look forward, we are excited to share with you the options that we have for every budget. If you have a realistic understanding of what it costs to get to Philmont, you will find that we have something for everyone. This week we will look at our lower priced options.  After all, “A Scout is Thrifty!”

With all of our itineraries you have the option to fly into either Denver, CO or Albuquerque, NM. Either location provides the same great service and very similar activities. Often, it just depends on which location is easier and more affordable for your group.  Rest assured, no matter which destination you choose, we will get you to Philmont well fed, well hydrated, and well prepared for your adventure!

First let’s look at our Transportation Only option. If you choose Colorado, you will be picked up at the airport immediately upon arrival. This will be a non-stop drive from Denver down to Philmont. If you choose New Mexico, you will be picked up from the airport within 1 hour of your scheduled arrival. The trip includes a 1-hour stop for lunch at a location that is central to several fast food restaurants. If you are staying at a local hotel, you can choose to be picked up at 6:30 AM. In both Colorado and New Mexico, you are guaranteed a properly licensed and insured vehicle with a professional driver. Above all, you will experience the quality and reliability that has made Blue Sky Adventures “The Expert in Philmont Travel!”

The next option we have is what we call our No Frills tours…again these are available in either New Mexico or Colorado.  It really just depends on where you want to go.

In New Mexico, you will be picked up upon arrival and transported to the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid hotel where you will get your custom Blue Sky Adventures Nalgene water bottle! Check in to the beautiful Marriott Pyramid hotel where there’s lots to do (pool, two hot tubs, gift shop, computer center, fitness center, game room, ping pong, basketball, board games). You can spend the afternoon pool side or in the game room or play board games, ping pong or basketball with your crew members and other Scouts from all over the country---this is some Scout trip! If you arrive early enough, grab some lunch at any number of popular restaurants within easy walking distance. You will also be able to pick up those last minute items you need at Target, Lowes, Walgreens, and others, all of which are within easy walking distance of the hotel.  Dinner at the hotel is good food and lots of it! An “all you can eat” buffet with soft serve ice cream and all the toppings for dessert! Finally, check out the Blue Sky TV channel for movies every night in your room. The next morning you will have a hot, all you can eat, full breakfast buffet at hotel--waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, juice, fresh fruit and more! Eat fast as you are on the 6:30 AM Blue Sky Express Shuttle that arrives at Philmont by 10:00 AM.

In Colorado, you will be picked up at the Denver International Airport immediately upon arrival and you will head for a hot, all you can eat lunch at an American buffet. Next, enjoy a 90-minute self-guided tour of the United States Air Force Academy Chapel and Visitor Center. Then, you will have a driving tour of Garden of the Gods with a brief picture stop at Balanced Rock. You will have an afternoon check in at the Alpine Village located on the spectacular campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. That night you have an all you can eat dinner at “The Lodge” dining facility on the main campus at UCCS. After dinner enjoy the pool, hot tub, basketball courts, and climbing wall at the University Recreation Center! What a day! The next morning you will have a hot, all you can eat, full breakfast buffet—pancakes, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit and more! It is a 6:30 AM departure on the Blue Sky Express Shuttle with arrival at Philmont by 10:00 AM.

No matter your budget and no matter which option you choose, you are guaranteed a good time!! And these are just the lower priced itineraries.  Well over 80% of our groups do even more! Stay tuned next week for a look at the awesome activities we offer in both Colorado and New Mexico! As always check out www.blueskyadventures.net for more information.
