WePay.com: The Hassle-Free Way to Collect Scouting Dues

The general public often associates a Scout Leader’s life with camping trips, guitar sing-alongs and jamborees. While that mental picture is idyllic, very few non-Scouts take into account the pile of administrative tasks that go along with leading a successful scout troop!

At WePay, the best place to collect money online, we’ve come up with a solution for Scout Leaders when it comes to collecting dues and donations. Forget depositing an envelope full of cash and checks into a special bank account. Now Scout Leaders can open a free, secure, and FDIC-insured account on WePay.com, and manage all of their troop’s money online.

WePay was co-founded by Eagle Scout Bill Clerico in response to a problem that had nagged him his whole life – there was no easy way to collect money from groups. Not for his scout troop, not from friends when he organized a service trip to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and not from his roommates who scrambled to deliver all the money for rent and bills every month to the right places.

So WePay was designed to change all that.

To collect dues for your Scout Troop with WePay:

  1. Sign up for a free account at WePay.com.

  2. Send bills to all the parents in your troop by entering their email addresses

From there, WePay will take care of the rest, including nagging tardy payers. After the dues are collected, everybody – the Scout Leader, parents and even BSA administrators – can view the account to see the account balance, where the money came from and how it is spent.

To spend the money, Scout Leaders can choose one of three options:

  1. Send a paper check

  2. Use a WePay debit card

  3. Transfer the money into a bank account

We highly recommend the first two options, because they allow Scout Leaders to replace a troop bank account with a WePay account. Just like bank accounts, WePay accounts are insured by the FDIC up to $250,000.

But better than bank accounts, WePay accounts are totally transparent, they can be easily transferred between administrators as troop leadership changes, and anybody can contribute without making a “bank run.

WePay can also handle your fundraising drives. Simply login to your WePay account and click “Accept Donations.” It’s never been easier to collect the funds raised from popcorn drives or charity events!
