 A tarp is often under thought of and used in the backcountry. Here is a video I found that gives you a good idea on how to use a tarp as a shelter. This video also includes some basic knots.

Rigging A Tarp
@Metin on 07/10/2012
Hello and thank you for your site. I am trying to udrnnstaed the concept of homeschool scouting. Is this primarily about joining a local troop while homeschooling, or is more about completing requirements independently of a troop while homeschooling? I want my boys to be involved in Scouts, but am concerned about the influence of public-schooled kids and having activities take too much time away from our family time, making the schedule of our large family even more hectic. Any feedback about your experience and rationale would be helpful. Thanks again.
