GO-GO HAND FISHING

Materials Needed:
As many Go-Go Hands as you feel you need
Hula hoops
Fish shapes from carpet or craft foam with self-adhesive Velcro (the barbed half) on each one
To make the gloves:
1. Pour 1/2 cup of dry split peas or small dry beans into a knit glove.
2. Tie a knot at one end of a 30-inch piece of flat ribbon or elastic and place the knotted end
into the cuff of the glove.
3. Run a line of hot glue across the inside of the cuff. Using a towel or glove to protect your
hand, push the glove together, squeezing the hot glue across the inside of the cuff of the
glove to seal the glove shut. Be careful not to touch the hot glue.
4. When the glue is cool, tie a large loop (big enough to go around a wrist) in the other end
of the elastic or ribbon.
How to Play:
Place the fish in the center of a "pond" ( a large rug or hula hoop). Stand on the shore and
launch the Go-Go hand towards the fish to see how many you can retrieve in a given time or
number of tries.

STUCK IN THE MUD

Materials Needed: none
How to Play:
One Cub Scout is chosen as the Fisherman. Each player grabs hold of that Cub Scout's
arms and all players chant "Hey, Cub Scout! How come you pout? You came to fish but none
were out." The Cub Scout that is the Fisherman then says, "I came to fish but there were none,
so you'd better let go and start to run!" All players let go and run while the Fisherman chases
after them. If a player gets tagged, that player is "stuck in the mud" and is frozen. The only way
to get unstuck is for an untagged player to crawl under the stuck player's legs. Players are safe
only while they are in those crawling-under moments. Play continues until everyone is caught.
The last one caught becomes the Fisherman.
