PILGRIM PLACEMATS

For parents, grandparents, or a special friend

Materials: large construction paper in tan, white, yellow, pink, and brown.
Markers, Glue, and clear contact paper

Instructions: Enlarge the following patterns, then make them from paper. Cover with contact
paper.

MAYFLOWER CENTERPIECE

Materials Needed: A gallon milk or juice carton, X-acto knife, paper bag, white glue, 2
bamboo skewers, 2 apples, white paper, colored construction paper.

Close and tape shut the opening of a clean carton. Then lay
it on its side. Using an X-acto knife {a grown-up job}, cut out the
side of the carton that's facing up. Cut 1- inch strips from the paper
bag and then dip them into a glue mixture {made from 1 part white
glue mixed with 4 parts water}. Wrap the strips around the carton.
Repeat until the carton is covered with paper bag panels
Stick one skewer in each apple and attach white paper sails
{made by cutting out large white triangles, then cutting the top off
them}. Attach a triangle flag to the top of each sail. Set the
skewered apples in the boat. Invite guests to write down on paper
slips something they are thankful for. Fold and place the strips in
the Mayflower for reading before or during your Thanksgiving
feast.
