PACK ADVANCEMENT CEREMONIES/05-07

Often in the rush of life, we as leaders forget about the glue that holds the pack together.
That glue is the pack committee members, parents, and “grunts.” These are the individuals
behind the scenes that do the mundane, tedious tasks, and they are the ones who make the pack a
success. These individuals deserve recognition for their efforts. The ceremonies should focus on
their accomplishments. Use your imagination to develop an appropriate tribute.

   Preparation:
                    1) Make a cutout star for each boy and attach his awards to it.
                    2) Attach each star to a baseball bat.
                    3) Support the bat in an upright position with an appropriate stand.

Narration:
We are going to honor the all-stars of our pack. These boys have practiced,
sweated and they deserve recognition for their excellence and accomplishments.

  Presentation:
Call up each boy and parents in turn. Elaborate on the things that he has done to earn the awards.
Give him his “Star” with attached awards. Have the boy pin his mother. Tell him that men
always kiss their mothers, even in public.

Parting Thought:
Did you Know?
Fernando Tatis of the Cardinals is the only Major Leaguer to hit two grand slams in one inning?
The most popular sport on the earth is soccer, which is played by one
hundred million people in over fifty countries.
It is a myth revealed that footballs are made of cowhide, not pigskin.
