Greetings Scouters I am seeking your input. As I am sure you realize it takes a lot of time and resources to keep InsaneScouter going. Don't worry, I'm not asking for money. Instead, I am seeking your advice.

In the past, I have tried seeking out volunteers to help with the various tasks. But have had little luck. Over the last year, I have been experimenting with outsourcing those tasks. This has been reasonably successful but comes with a cost. The sponsor revenue does not come close to covering those costs. I have had lackluster results seeking donations.

We also have many things we want to do moving forward. For example, we want to launch a themed newsletter full of ideas and resources for all Scouting levels based around that theme.

Do you have any suggestions of ways we can generate more revenue to keep the lights on & continue moving forward?

Girl Scout Cookies are about so much more than the sweet treats we anticipate each season; your purchase powers life-changing adventures for girls while helping them build real-life skills. Here’s how it’s done.   As the biggest annual financial investment in girls in the United States, the Girl Scout Cookie Program sets the stage for girls to discover their inner leadership potential. All year long, they map out their plans to influence the world around them, be it through nurturing their love of the outdoors or using science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to create sustainable solutions. Their vision for a ...

You wouldn’t know the cemetery near Thorntown, Ind., was the resting place of nearly 50 African Americans. For a long time, it was a patch of grass, recognized only by a few decrepit stone tombstones and a black-and-white sign. Four years ago, Reece Thompson of Troop 350 in nearby Advance, Ind., decided to do something after reading an article about the cemetery in a local newspaper. Since his older brother had restored a cemetery for his Eagle Scout project, Reece chose to do the same. “Only a part of it was making it look pretty, ” Reece says. “The other ...

This is Unsung Heroes, a Bryan on Scouting blog series celebrating under-reported acts of Scouting heroism. These are stories that don’t make national headlines — but should. That’s doubly true in this world that can always use more good news. Read the latest story below, and find instructions for sharing your own Unsung Heroes story at the end of the post. In February 2019, Shane Holbrook was snowboarding with friends and family at Snow Summit Ski Resort in Southern California when he spotted a skier in danger. The man’s skis had become trapped in some green plastic safety fencing. The fencing, ...

Click here for the whole Scout Ambassador’s Tool Chest In September, we explained the role of the New-Unit Commissioner. Many of our Scouting Ambassadors recognized right away that that was the role they were already playing with their new units. Our local council has asked that any Scout Ambassador who has succeeded in starting a unit accept the assignment of being that unit’s commissioner. And to plan on serving as an ongoing advisor to the pack, troop, or crew [unit here after] during the unit’s first three years of operations. ...

Let’s face it, Baby Yoda is the greatest thing to happen to the Star Wars universe. **Official disclaimer, Disney wants everyone to call him “the Child, ” not Baby Yoda. At the same time, this video says Baby Yoda and so does the majority of the internet.** Those big floppy ears, cheeky grin, and wittle (little but in a baby voice) legs have taken the internet, and our hearts, by storm. And now, you can carry the Child with you wherever you go with this Baby Yoda Paracord Keychain. I’ve never met a Scout who doesn’t enjoy ...

I am an ASM at my son's troop, but I haven't been active for 4 months because of the advice offered in this forum, namely let your son pursue advancement on his own, without your help -- so it will be his Eagle, not yours. So far, that experiment seems to be panning out: my son's advancement has come to a halt, without my continually asking him "What's next?" It will be his decision and his initiative that gets him to Eagle if he gets there. But returning to the main subject: I missed a step and landed wrong, messing ......
