Real Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 cups flour
  • tub soft margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 8 oz pecan pieces

Mix lukewarm water, yeast, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt in a medium pot. After the yeast mixture is bubbly, add 2 cups of flour and mix well. Gradually add the rest of the flour to make dough. Place on a floured surface and knead until smooth. Oil the surface well. Place in a large pot, cover, and let rise for 1 hour. Knead a second time and roll into a thin sheet on a floured surface.

Spread soft margarine on the dough, then sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and pecan pieces. Roll into a log and pinch the ends shut. Spiral the log onto a greased large pot lid and press down until the log covers the bottom of the lid. Spread more margarine on top. Bake in a preheated Dutch oven for 30-45 minutes. Slice while warm but not hot.
