Eagle Tips - Congratulatory Letters from the Order of the Arrow

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the National Order of the Arrow Conference and report on the array of Eagle Scout-related activities that were part of this year’s event. (You can read my reporting at http://noac.nesa.org.) As I walked around the Michigan State University campus, I was struck by how many attendees were wearing both OA sashes and Eagle Scout badges.
Of course, it’s no surprise that so many members of Scouting’s national honor society would also be recipients of Scouting’s highest rank. As OA Director Clyde Mayer told me, “It’s a natural fit that people who gravitate to this highest award in the Boy Scouts of America are also Arrowmen. I would say that 75 or 80 percent of those who are Eagle Scouts have also been Arrowmen.”
That means chances are good that your next Eagle Scout would enjoy receiving congratulatory letters from the national chief, the national vice chief, and the national chairman (all three of whom are Eagle Scouts). Getting such letters has never been easier. All you have to do is visit http://www.oabsa.org/resources/unit/2012congratulatoryeagleletter.htm, download the letters, fill in the Scout’s name and ceremony date, and print.
If your honoree has been involved in the Order of the Arrow, these are can’t-miss letters.
