DIY POPSICLE SNOWFLAKES
Snowflakes symbolize the Christmas season. The most common Christmas tradition around the world is to set up and decorate Christmas trees, but Christmas decors can be a bit pricey. It was my dream as a kid to experience snow and see real snowflakes, sadly I was born in a tropical country. If you’re in a country that experiences winter, no need to go outside in freezing weather! Kids will enjoy making these and feel the spirit of Christmas just like in the movie Frozen!

These are very easy to make, we just need a few affordable materials and your crafty hands!

MATERIALS FOR SNOWFLAKES
★    Popsicle Sticks (you can use the colored ones or just paint them)
★    Craft Glue
★    Glue gun and glue sticks
★    Cotton balls or Pom poms (for fake snow effect)
★    Glitters or any designing materials
★    Jute Twine String or Ribbon (for hanging)

LET’S MAKE OUR SNOWFLAKES!

1.    PREPARE YOUR POPSICLE STICKS
a.    Sort out the popsicle sticks by color. If you don’t have colored popsicle sticks, you can paint them with acrylic paint!

2.    FORMING THE SNOWFLAKES
a.    You will be using 3-4 popsicle sticks per snowflake. Put a small amount of hot glue on top of each popsicle stick. At the back, put a drop of hot glue for the jute twine string. Let the adults do this part and the kids will do the decorating!

b.    You can also create different shapes and sizes!

3.    DESIGN THE SNOWFLAKES
a.    Design it as you wish! You can put glitters and sequins to make it sparkly or add cotton balls or pom poms to create a snowy effect.

DIY POPSICLE CHRISTMAS TREES
Christmas is nothing without the Christmas tree! It is traditionally
decorated with lights and ornaments. I have been watching movies wherein they use real fir trees as their Christmas tree, and I have been wishing to decorate one! Well, let’s just hop into making these cute little Christmas trees!

This ornament needs the help of adults, kids! Ask them to help you make these mini decors!

MATERIALS FOR CHRISTMAS TREES
★    Popsicle Sticks (you can use the colored ones or just paint them)
★    Glue gun and glue sticks
★    Utility Cutter
★    Sticker Rhinestones
★    Glitters
★    Foam Star Stickers
★    Jute Twine String or Ribbon (for hanging)

LET’S MAKE OUR CHRISTMAS TREES!

1.    PREPARE YOUR POPSICLE STICKS
Just like the snowflakes, you need to sort out the popsicle sticks by color. The trunk will be purple. The color of the leaves will be up to you.

2.    CUT THE POPSICLE STICKS
a.    You will need 5 different sizes of popsicle sticks that will be used as the leaves. Cut them into 1”, 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, and 3” lengths. Let the adults do this part to prevent accidents.

b.    Remove the round ends of the popsicle stick to make the corners even.

3.    ASSEMBLING THE CHRISTMAS TREE
a.    Using a scrap piece of popsicle stick, maybe about 1/2″ long, add a drop of hot glue and pinch the small piece of jute twine string between the “trunk” and the small scrap.

b.    Assemble its leaves evenly onto the “trunk” and stick them with hot glue.

4.    DESIGN THE CHRISTMAS TREE

a.    Place the foam star stickers on top to cover the jute twine string.
b.    Decorate it with your materials! You can use rhinestones and glitters to make it shimmery.

And you’re done! These crafts will make the kids enhance their creativity and improve their bond with the adults. The best thing about this is you can reuse these in your annual Christmas tradition for many years!

“In crafting, there are no mistakes. Just unique creations.”
