Flat Stanely's Scout Adventures

Memorial Day Weekend at the Chattanooga National Cemetary

Flat Stanley joined some of the Cub Scouts from Pack 3266 in Hixson, TN at the Chattanooga National Cemetary on Saturday, May 23, 2009,  to honor our veterans by placing flags on their gravesites. He started off his morning before the flag ceremony by looking over some of the military vehicles and displays on the cemetary grounds.  He hitched a ride on a deuce and a half, "drove" the Battle Bus, a rolling military display featuring Vietnam era memorabilia and a door gunner display, and he tried his hand at firing a machine gun mounted on top of a jeep.  He also learned  talked with Veterans and toured the Civil War re-enactors camp.  Then, it was off to place flags around the cemetary. He learned about Chattanooga's rich Civil War history and found the final resting place of Andrew's Raiders, the Union spies who captured the General locomotive during the Great Train Robbery. All in all, Flat Stanley had a grand day with his new friends from Pack 3266.
