There are still only 24 hours in a day, but Sunjay Chawla seemed to defy that fundamental fact about time. He captured five state tennis titles in Mississippi, holds his high school’s record for most goals in a soccer game (eight) and won several golf tournaments. His academics aren’t too bad either. Sunjay graduated in May as his school’s valedictorian, scored a 34 on the ACT and will attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas with $188, 000 in scholarships. Sunjay’s accomplishments in the classroom and on the court, field and course are why he was named the 2019 male Wendy’s ......

Scouting is the great equalizer. That’s true in a Scout unit, where every young person wears the same uniform and has an equal opportunity to advance as far as they want to go. That’s also true on council and national committees, where the opinion of a 30-something relative newcomer carries as much significance as that of a Fortune 500 CEO. At age 30, Amanda Vogt often is the youngest member of the many BSA committees of which she is a member. But as is typical in an organization devoted to welcoming everyone to the table, labels like age are irrelevant. ......

Thursday, August 1 On World Scout Scarf Day, all former Scouts and current Scouts are asked to wear their neckerchief (scarf) to promote the Spirit of Scouting. August 1 was the date of the very first Scout camp on Brownsea Island in 1907. So wear your neckerchief proudly and do a good turn on Aug 1! Take a group photo or a selfie and post it to social media with the hashtag #worldscarfday . Change your social media profile picture to one of you wearing your neckerchief. Make a new neckerchief ......

Over the Independence Day holiday, Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Neil Steinberg did the same thing as thousands (maybe millions) of other Americans in cities and towns all across the nation – he went to a Fourth of July parade. What he saw at that parade was also something many other Americans saw – young men and young women, all wearing the same uniform and all participating in the same Scouts BSA program, marching together to express their duty to country.  And as for any controversy as a result of boys and girls carrying flags together in the same parade, Steinberg had ......
