Whats New & Please Help

Check out the hundreds of new pages on InsaneScouter.

I am so sorry for the lateness of this newsletter. I am in the midst of a personal crisis as I am currently jobless, and mix that with the holidays. I guess I am just full of excuses...

Have your Scouts write up their Resolutions for the next year and email them to us at webmaster@insanescouter.org and we will pick out a sampling of what we receive and publish them next month.

Don't forget to send out a Scouting Postcard to all your friends.

Also login to the site (either use link to left or login on top right of any page, click on that link again (which now says "<username> now logged in" to manage your account. From there click on "Add Link to Scout Search" this will allow you to add any scouting related website to our search engine like tool. I also suggest you check out "Virtual Flat Stanley Scout" and have your Scouts be virtual pen pals with other Scouts from around the world. You do not actually have to send Stanley around.

New Years Eve Party Game
by linette on December 12th, 2008

New Year eves party games don’t have to be complicated to be fun. Here are a few ideas to get you rolling.

  • Get out some board games like Pictionary, Scene It, or Partini
  • Come up with your own trivia game where you have guests answer questions about events that have happened over the last year. You can use local, national, or celebrity news, or a mixture of all of them to create your questions.
  • You can turn the trivia game into a fun game of charades, where someone acts out an event from the last year, and the other guests try to figure out what event they’re doing.
  • Play bits of old songs, and have your guests guess what year they came out, the artist, and the title.
  • Have everyone write down their New Years resolution on a slip of paper, then put them all in a hat, draw them out and read them while you have all the guests guess who’s resolution it is.

Whatever games you decide to play, have fun with it, and don’t forget to let the guests have some time to mingle and chat.

Confetti Tubes
If your kids are too young to stay up late don't let that stop you from celebrating. Make confetti tubes by placing confetti, either store bought or make your own with a hole puncher and paper, inside a toilet paper tube and wrap it up with decorative paper. Tie the ends with ribbon and place these on your holiday table. Before going to bed go outside and yell Happy New Year. Tear the ribbon of the confetti favors and let your kids have a ball throwing the confetti. (even if it isn't midnight kids will love this activity.)

On New Year's Day

On New Year's Day a year ago,
I started off the year
by making resolutions
that were probably severe.

I said I'd save my money,
as this seemed so very wise.
I vowed I would improve my health.
I swore I'd exercise.

I stated I would do my homework
every single day.
I'd brush my teeth religiously
to ward off tooth decay.

I'd eat my fruits and vegetables
and keep my bedroom clean.
I'd treat my sister kindly
though she's often very mean.

My resolutions lasted me
about a half a day.
I promised I would keep them
but I broke them anyway.

So now I'm fat and penniless.
My homework's overdue.
My sister's mad. My teeth are bad.
My room is messy too.

And yet I think I may have found
the best of all solutions,
and this year I've resolved
to not make ANY resolutions.

Making A Fresh Start

Well, Scouts, the new year is here and it's time for New Year's resolutions. In other words, as our theme this month says, it's time for a fresh start.

New Year's Resolution

Well, Scouts, did you make any New Year's resolutions? I hope some of you resolved to bring up your grades in school and be more helpful around the house.

Circle Twisted

Have youth group leaders get all participants standing and forming two circles.

Significance of January

January is named for Janus (Ianuarius)....

Fuzzy And Scout's Hidden Corner

Hi all,

It is Fuzzy and Scout here and as usual we will tell you a bit of our adventures we do in Cubs. As every year our district will have a carol service in the Cathedral here and they will collect money for a children’s hospice. We think it is very important to collect money for this to give these children something in the situation they are in. Also as a group we always try to collect some toys for a local children’s home, for children that do not have a mommy or daddy. We are so lucky to live with Baloo!

We think it is important to have a nice Christmas with all your family and friends, but also to think of others, as it says in our Cub Scout Law “think of others before themselves”

To do this we have decided that next year we will donate a salmon to charity each week, to make sure we give something to children that are not as lucky as we are. Although Baloo thinks we better give some money.......but what would you do with money, salmon is nice to eat, money is not.

If everyone would make such a resolution the world would be a much nicer place.

Anyways we need to go out and get Baloo a Christmas present. So if we don’t catch you before: Have a very bearry Christmas and a grrrrrreat new year!!!

Your friends,

Fuzzy and Scout
